Hey all!

I'm an aspiring comic book artist! I would love comments, advice and friendship from anyone willing to offer it! :D

Other than that, I'm very very boring, and just writing about me would be a bore, so I'll stop!

Thanks for adding my Al pic to your faves, by the way.

I see you are interested in many of the same things as myself... but I must confess astonishment at seeing Burne Hogarth among your favorite artists. I seldom run into people who mention him... even other artists.
:icontrollishninjaqueen:
Sure! It's a great representation of him!!! Thanks for the faves on Harley and Batman!

Awesome! Someone else who likes Weird Al and comic books! :D Ah, yeah! I love Burne... it's too bad he's not really getting the representation he deserves! (I mean really, who doesn't have a very well used copy of "Dynamic Anatomy" in their bookshelf?) My Dad actually had him as a teacher when he went to collage (Lucky) so Burne's been kind of an essential part to my growing up... Always good for reference on tricky poses!

You're father sure was lucky!

Alex Raymond, Burne Hogarth and Harold Foster were kind of the "big three" of good, solid comic strip art, at one time. Heck... you can find their influences by looking at the works of Kirby, Kubert, Wood, and many others.

I don't have Hogarth's book, but I have three books by Jack Hamm and a bunch of pages that a friend copied from a George Bridgman book. If you've not seen the works, here's a link to Hamm's Drawing the Head and Figure: [link]
and a link to a free, downloadable, public-domain copy of Bridgman's Constructive Anatomy: [link]

Indeed he was! *is envious of him!* From what I hear, he was quite the character! haha!

They defiantly knew their stuff! It'd be a challenge to find three current illustrators at their level... Really, comics are one of the only classical art forms left. Besides maybe Disney and Pixar, I can't really think of any other company dedicated to visual art (I mean, obviously you can't have a comic book without a good story, but the same goes for a movie!) Both my parents where graphic designers for a time, and they say that's much more of filling others needs than actually creating a work of art....

"The world needs more art" one of my favorite rants to go on haha...

Ah, I really recommend it. If you need to draw a guy catapulting through the air in a 3/4ths view, twisting around back into space, Hogarth is defiantly your man! :P

Ooh! thankyou! I have Bridgman's Drawing From Life, but I don't have that one, and I looove free stuff haha! *is cheap*
:icondrraumzeit:
You are indeed a kindred spirit.

Seriously.

You need to check out my very good friend Bill Bryan... here's his site: [link]
